Und wieder sitze ich hier und schwelge in Erinnerungen an die glorreichen Achtziger und denke mir: Wie geil fand ich diese Band damals schon.
Jetzt, über 40 Jahre später, sitze ich wieder da und bin genauso geflasht wie damals. Dazwischen liegen unglaubliche vier Jahrzehnte meines Lebens.

Close To The Bone
Schon der Opener zeigt sofort, wo der Hammer hängt.
Bereits nach wenigen Sekunden bin ich vom Sound begeistert. Das geht ab wie Schmitz Katze in den Hintern geschossen. Druckvoll, fett und trotzdem glasklar. Genau so muss klassischer Heavy Metal klingen.
Every Man – Any Man
Mit dem zweiten Song geht es fast schon etwas prog-mäßig weiter. Klingt interessant, klingt spannend und gleichzeitig verdammt cool.
Armored Saint schaffen es erneut, ihren eigenen Stil weiterzuentwickeln, ohne ihre Wurzeln zu vergessen.
Not On Your Life
Auch Nummer drei liefert wieder ab.
Und schon horche ich auf, welche unglaubliche Stimme John Bush auch nach all den Jahren noch besitzt. Viele Sänger verlieren mit der Zeit an Kraft oder Ausdruck. John Bush gehört definitiv nicht dazu.
Doch Armored Saint waren nie nur John Bush.
Was Phil Sandoval und Jeff Duncan hier an den Gitarren abliefern, ist schlicht sensationell. Riffs, Harmonien und Soli sitzen perfekt und verleihen jedem Song seinen eigenen Charakter.
Hit A Moonshot
Wieder einer dieser Groove-Kracher, bei denen dir schwindelig wird.
Allerdings muss man an dieser Stelle auch Joey Vera am Bass und Gonzo Sandoval am Schlagzeug erwähnen. Was diese beiden hier abliefern, ist einfach eine Groove-Maschine allererster Güte.
Die Rhythmussektion treibt die Songs gnadenlos nach vorne und sorgt dafür, dass alles wie aus einem Guss klingt.
Buckeye
Jetzt wird das Tempo etwas heruntergefahren, was dem Album sehr gut tut.
Der Song erinnert mich stark an die Achtziger, und da bin ich ohnehin zuhause. Melodisch, atmosphärisch und voller Gefühl.
Genau solche Songs sorgen dafür, dass ein Album atmen kann.
Compromise
Auch wenn der Song Compromise heißt, muss ich hier widersprechen.
Kompromisse werden auf diesem Album keine gemacht.
Die Band rockt munter weiter und liefert erneut einen Song ab, der sich sofort festsetzt.
It’s A Buzzkill
Der Song geht mächtig los und groovt sich anschließend in eine sehr interessante Midtempo-Nummer ein.
Wir sind inzwischen mitten im Album angekommen und ich habe meine helle Freude daran.
Throwing Caution To The Wind
Die Jungs bleiben ihrem Stil treu.
Immer auf die Glocke, aber gleichzeitig mit genug Melodie ausgestattet, damit die Songs niemals eindimensional wirken.
Und genau das macht Armored Saint seit Jahrzehnten so stark.
Ladders And Slides
Hier wird erneut eindrucksvoll bewiesen, warum Armored Saint auch 2026 noch zur Spitze des Heavy Metal zählen.
Die Gitarrenarbeit von Phil Sandoval und Jeff Duncan begeistert mich auf ganzer Linie. Jeder Lauf, jedes Solo und jede Melodie sitzt genau dort, wo sie hingehört.
Bottom Feeder
Schon der Einstieg macht klar, dass hier echtes Schlagzeug gespielt wird.
Überhaupt muss ich jetzt ohne Übertreibung gestehen, dass ich vom Gesamtsound dieses Albums absolut begeistert bin.
Es kracht und scheppert, aber gleichzeitig ist alles so hervorragend gemischt, dass man jedes einzelne Instrument klar und deutlich hören kann.
Ein Lehrstück in Sachen Produktion.
Epilogue
Mit Epilogue verabschieden sich Armored Saint genauso, wie es sein muss.
Ein starkes Riff, jede Menge Atmosphäre und noch einmal alles, was dieses Album auszeichnet.
Als der letzte Ton verklungen ist, bleibt bei mir ein begeisterter Metalhead zurück, der gerade knapp 50 Minuten lang hervorragend unterhalten wurde.
Fazit
Armored Saint beweisen mit Emotion Factory Reset eindrucksvoll, warum sie seit Jahrzehnten zu den wichtigsten Bands des amerikanischen Heavy Metal gehören.
John Bush singt überragend, Phil Sandoval und Jeff Duncan liefern fantastische Gitarrenarbeit ab und Joey Vera sowie Gonzo Sandoval sorgen für einen Groove, der das gesamte Album trägt.
Dazu kommt eine Produktion, die für mich zu den besten gehört, die ich in letzter Zeit gehört habe.
Vom ersten bis zum letzten Song hat mich dieses Album gepackt.
Für mich gibt es deshalb nur eine Wertung:
10 von 10 Punkten.

Once again, I find myself drifting back to the glorious 1980s, thinking about how much I already loved this band back then.
Now, more than 40 years later, I’m sitting here listening to Emotion Factory Reset and I’m just as blown away as I was back in those days.
Four incredible decades of my life have passed in between.
Thank you, Armored Saint, for this journey back in time.
Now let’s get into the battle.
Close To The Bone
The opener immediately shows where the hammer hangs.
From the very first seconds, I’m impressed by the sound. This thing explodes out of the speakers with power, energy, and attitude. Heavy, punchy, and crystal clear at the same time.
This is exactly how classic Heavy Metal should sound.
Every Man – Any Man
The second track takes things in a slightly progressive direction.
Interesting, exciting, and incredibly cool.
Armored Saint once again manage to evolve their sound without ever losing their identity.
Not On Your Life
Track three delivers once again.
And once again I find myself amazed by the incredible voice of John Bush. Many singers lose power and character over the years.
John Bush certainly isn’t one of them.
But Armored Saint have never been just about John Bush.
What Phil Sandoval and Jeff Duncan deliver on guitars throughout this album is simply sensational. The riffs, harmonies, and solos are outstanding and give every song its own unique personality.
Hit A Moonshot
Another groove monster.
One of those tracks that hits so hard it leaves you dizzy.
At this point, we also need to give credit to Joey Vera on bass and Gonzo Sandoval behind the drum kit.
What these two create together is a world-class groove machine.
The rhythm section drives every song forward and gives the album its incredible momentum.
Buckeye
The pace slows down a little here, and that works perfectly.
The song has a strong 80s vibe, and that’s a place where I will always feel at home.
Melodic, atmospheric, and full of feeling.
Exactly the kind of song that gives an album room to breathe.
Compromise
Even though the song is called Compromise, I have to disagree.
There are absolutely no compromises being made on this album.
The band keeps rocking hard and delivers yet another memorable track.
It’s A Buzzkill
The song starts with serious firepower before settling into a very interesting mid-tempo groove.
At this point, we’re right in the middle of the album and I’m having an absolute blast.
Throwing Caution To The Wind
The guys stay true to their style.
Heavy, direct, and powerful, but always with enough melody to keep things interesting.
That balance is one of the reasons why Armored Saint have remained relevant for so many decades.
Ladders And Slides
Another song that proves why Armored Saint still belong among the elite of Heavy Metal in 2026.
The guitar work from Phil Sandoval and Jeff Duncan is absolutely outstanding.
Every lead, every harmony, every solo serves the song perfectly.
Bottom Feeder
The opening alone tells you that this is a real drummer behind the kit.
In fact, I have to praise the overall production once again.
Without exaggeration, I absolutely love the sound of this album.
It crashes, it roars, it hits hard, and yet every instrument remains perfectly clear and easy to hear.
A masterclass in production.
Epilogue
With Epilogue, Armored Saint bring the album to a close exactly the way they should.
A strong riff, plenty of atmosphere, and one final reminder of everything that makes this album special.
By the time the final note fades away, I’m left sitting there as one very happy metalhead who has just spent the last hour listening to outstanding Heavy Metal.
Final Verdict
With Emotion Factory Reset, Armored Saint once again prove why they remain one of the most important bands in American Heavy Metal.
John Bush delivers a phenomenal vocal performance, Phil Sandoval and Jeff Duncan shine on guitars, while Joey Vera and Gonzo Sandoval provide the powerful groove that drives the entire album.
Add an outstanding production, and you have a record that grabbed me from the first song to the last.
For me, there is only one possible rating:
