The story of Alan D Angelo, bassist of US power metal band Power Theory, is one of them.
A serious battle with cancer changed his life. What followed was not the kind of fight described in the lyrics of a heavy metal song.
This was real.
It was a fight for his health and his life.
And Alan took that fight on.
When survival became everything

Es ging nicht um das nächste Album.
Es ging nicht um das nächste Konzert.
Es ging ums Überleben.
Der Traum von der Rückkehr
Trotz allem gab es ein Ziel, das Alan während dieser schweren Zeit begleitete.
Er wollte wieder Musik machen.
Er wollte seinen Bass wieder in die Hand nehmen.
Und vor allem wollte er eines Tages wieder gemeinsam mit seinen Jungs von Power Theory auf einer Bühne stehen.
Für Alan war Power Theory längst mehr als eine Band. Über viele Jahre hatte er gemeinsam mit seinen Bandkollegen Musik gemacht und einen bedeutenden Teil seines musikalischen Lebens mit ihnen verbracht.
Während Alan kämpfte, zeigte sich, wie tief diese Verbindung tatsächlich war.
Power Theory warteten auf ihn
Die Band ließ ihren Bassisten nicht zurück.
Power Theory warteten auf Alan.
Während er sich durch Operation, Behandlung und Genesung kämpfte, wusste er, dass seine Band hinter ihm stand.
In einer Musikwelt, in der Besetzungswechsel nichts Ungewöhnliches sind, bekam das Wort Brotherhood hier eine ganz besondere Bedeutung.
Es ist leicht, von Brüderschaft zu sprechen, wenn alles gut läuft.
Der wirkliche Wert dieser Worte zeigt sich dann, wenn einer aus der Gemeinschaft durch die Hölle geht und Unterstützung braucht.
Power Theory gaben Alan die Zeit für seinen Kampf und seinen Weg zurück.
Das war keine Phrase.
Das war echte Brüderschaft.
Der Weg zurück zur Musik
Alan gab nicht auf.
Schritt für Schritt kämpfte er sich zurück. Nach den schweren Monaten kam schließlich der Moment, an dem Musik wieder Teil seines Lebens werden konnte.
Der Bass war wieder in seinen Händen.
Er konnte wieder mit seiner Band spielen.
