Ich muss gestehen: EVERGREY sind erst relativ spät in mein Leben getreten. Kennengelernt habe ich diese Ausnahmeband erst 2021, als ich mit der Metalheads Forever Show begann. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an tauchte ich immer tiefer in die faszinierende Welt der Schweden ein – eine Welt voller Melancholie, Emotionen und gleichzeitig kraftvollem Heavy Metal.
Entsprechend gespannt war ich auf das neue Album Architects Of A New Weave. Was würde mich erwarten? Würde die Band ihr ohnehin schon beeindruckendes Niveau halten können?
Die Antwort lautet ganz klar: Ja. Und wie!
Bereits das Intro „Welcome To The Pattern“ mit seiner tiefen Erzählerstimme erzeugt eine düstere Atmosphäre und lässt erahnen, dass hier etwas Großes auf den Hörer zukommt. Und tatsächlich: Kaum erklingen die ersten Töne von „The Shadow’s Self“, bin ich wieder vollkommen gefangen im unverwechselbaren Klangkosmos von EVERGREY.
Mit dem Titeltrack „Architects Of A New Weave“ geht es nahtlos weiter. Die treibende Doublebass-Arbeit sorgt für Dynamik, während die markante Stimme von Tom S. Englund einmal mehr unter Beweis stellt, warum er zu den ausdrucksstärksten Sängern des Genres zählt. Die Keyboards verleihen dem Song eine epische Note, ohne jemals aufdringlich zu wirken.
„The World Is On Fire“ beginnt zunächst zurückhaltend, bevor der Song wenige Sekunden später regelrecht explodiert. Hier zeigt sich einmal mehr, dass EVERGREY ihrem Stil treu bleiben und dennoch immer wieder neue Facetten einbauen.
Mit „Heaven“ wird es anschließend etwas härter. Wieder fällt besonders das exzellente Schlagzeugspiel auf. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt bin ich erst beim fünften Song angelangt und habe bereits mehrfach Gänsehaut bekommen. Die Frage drängt sich auf: Hat sich hier möglicherweise ein Kandidat für mein Album des Jahres eingeschlichen?
„The Script“ startet schwer und fast schon bedrückend. Gerade diese düstere Grundstimmung fügt sich jedoch perfekt in den Spannungsbogen des Albums ein und verleiht ihm zusätzliche Tiefe.
Danach folgt mein persönlicher Favorit des Albums: „Leaving The Emptiness“. Der Song groovt von der ersten Sekunde an und besitzt einen fantastischen Refrain, der sich sofort festsetzt. Hier stimmt einfach alles. Kraft, Melodie und dieses besondere Feel-Good-Gefühl, das nur wenige Bands so überzeugend transportieren können.
Mit „Longing“ wird es melodischer. Im Midtempo gehalten und von geschmackvollen Keyboardflächen begleitet, entfaltet sich der Song mit jeder Minute mehr. Besonders gefällt mir dabei der weit vorne platzierte Drum-Sound, der dem Stück zusätzlichen Druck verleiht.
Der nächste Höhepunkt folgt mit „A Burning Flame“, bei dem Mikael Stanne als Special Guest mitwirkt. Die Kombination der Stimmen funktioniert hervorragend und sorgt für einen weiteren Gänsehautmoment.
Im letzten Drittel des Albums überzeugt „Call Off Your Lions“ als mächtiger, bombastischer Rocker, bevor „Chains Of Shame“ die Band in etwas modernere Klangwelten führt. Das macht das Album jedoch nicht beliebig, sondern zeigt vielmehr die Vielseitigkeit und Weiterentwicklung von EVERGREY.
Den Abschluss bildet das epische „The Prophet“. Ein perfekter Schlusspunkt für ein Album, das von Anfang bis Ende auf höchstem Niveau agiert und den Hörer mit einem zufriedenen Lächeln zurücklässt.
Fazit
EVERGREY gelingt mit Architects Of A New Weave ein Album, das alle Stärken der Band vereint. Melancholie, Härte, Atmosphäre, überragende Gesangsleistungen, fantastische Musiker und Songs, die sich sofort im Gedächtnis festsetzen.
Ich habe lange gesucht, aber ich finde keinen einzigen Schwachpunkt.

Sowohl musikalisch als auch gesanglich bewegt sich dieses Album auf allerhöchstem Niveau und gehört für mich zu den absoluten Highlights des Jahres.

I have to admit that EVERGREY entered my life rather late. I only discovered this incredible band in 2021 when I started hosting the Metalheads Forever Show. From that moment on, I found myself diving deeper and deeper into their unique world of heavy metal, melancholy, emotion, and atmosphere.
Naturally, I was extremely curious about what Architects Of A New Weave would bring to the table. Would EVERGREY be able to maintain the exceptionally high standards they have set throughout their career?
The answer is a resounding yes.
The album opens with „Welcome To The Pattern“, a dark and atmospheric introduction featuring a deep spoken voice that immediately creates anticipation. It perfectly sets the stage for what is about to unfold. As soon as „The Shadow’s Self“ kicks in, I am completely drawn into the unmistakable EVERGREY universe once again.
The title track, „Architects Of A New Weave“, continues the journey in spectacular fashion. The powerful double bass drumming provides relentless momentum, while Tom S. Englund’s distinctive voice once again proves why he is one of the most expressive singers in modern metal. The keyboards add an epic dimension without ever becoming overwhelming.
„The World Is On Fire“ starts gently before erupting into a powerful metal anthem only moments later. It perfectly demonstrates how EVERGREY continue to stay true to their identity while still finding new ways to keep their sound fresh and engaging.
With „Heaven“, the album becomes heavier. Once again, the outstanding drumming immediately catches my attention. At this point, I am only five songs into the album and already experiencing multiple goosebump moments. I couldn’t help but wonder if I was listening to a future Album of the Year contender.
„The Script“ begins with a slow, almost burdensome atmosphere. Yet this darker mood fits perfectly within the album’s overall narrative and contributes significantly to its emotional depth.
Then comes my personal highlight of the album: „Leaving The Emptiness“. The song grooves from the very first second, featuring a fantastic chorus that instantly grabs hold of the listener. This track simply has everything—power, melody, emotion, and that special feel-good factor that only a handful of bands can create so naturally.
With „Longing“, the album shifts into a more melodic direction. Driven by beautiful keyboard arrangements and a strong mid-tempo groove, the song unfolds elegantly. I particularly enjoy how prominently the drums are mixed, giving the track additional weight and presence.
The next standout moment arrives with „A Burning Flame“, featuring special guest Mikael Stanne. The combination of voices works brilliantly and creates yet another unforgettable highlight.
As the album approaches its finale, „Call Off Your Lions“ delivers a bombastic and powerful rocker that further showcases the band’s songwriting strengths. „Chains Of Shame“ ventures into slightly more modern territory, adding diversity without ever compromising the album’s overall identity.
The journey concludes with the epic „The Prophet“, a magnificent closing track that serves as the perfect ending to an album packed with memorable moments from beginning to end.
Conclusion
With Architects Of A New Weave, EVERGREY have created an album that perfectly combines all the elements that make the band so special: melancholy, heaviness, atmosphere, outstanding musicianship, and deeply emotional songwriting.
I have searched for flaws, but honestly, I can’t find any.

Both musically and vocally, this album operates on the highest possible level. For me, it stands among the very best releases of the year and further cements EVERGREY’s status as one of the finest bands in modern metal.
