Manchmal schreibt das Tourleben Geschichten, für die es kein Drehbuch braucht. Alan D Angelo von POWER THEORY erlebte nach einem Zoobesuch in Straubing einen Nachmittag, der zunächst nach einem ernsten Problem aussah – und schließlich eine ziemlich kuriose Wendung nahm.
D Angelo berichtete, dass er nach dem Besuch bemerkte, dass sein Portemonnaie verschwunden war. Darin befanden sich nach seinen Angaben rund 300 US-Dollar Bargeld, Führerschein und Kreditkarte. Besonders problematisch: Auch seinen Reisepass konnte er zunächst nicht finden.
Der Musiker meldete den Verlust bei der Polizei in Straubing und nahm Kontakt mit dem US-Konsulat in Frankfurt auf. Dort ergab sich das nächste Problem: Aufgrund des amerikanischen Labor Day wäre das Konsulat am Montag geschlossen gewesen. D Angelo plante deshalb, am Dienstag bereits um 7 Uhr beim Konsulat zu sein und auf die Ausstellung eines Notfallpasses zu hoffen – sein Rückflug war für 11:40 Uhr vorgesehen.
Zumindest ein Foto seines Reisepasses war vorhanden, da sein Begleiter Bob bei der Flugbuchung eine Aufnahme davon auf seinem Smartphone gespeichert hatte.
Doch dann kam die überraschende Auflösung. Nachdem die Musiker noch einmal zum Festivalgelände zurückgekehrt waren, um Zeit mit Stephan Moro zu verbringen, ging es zurück ins Gasthaus. Dort leerte Bob seine Taschen – und plötzlich tauchte D Angelos Reisepass wieder auf. Bob hatte ihn nach Angaben D Angelos offenbar nach der Rückkehr vom Zoo versehentlich eingesteckt.
Damit war das Problem allerdings noch nicht ganz beendet: Nun war plötzlich Bobs eigener Reisepass verschwunden. Nach rund einer Stunde Suche wurde schließlich auch dieser wiedergefunden.
Das Wichtigste am Ende dieser etwas anderen POWER THEORY Roadstory: Beide Reisepässe sind wieder da und die drohende Notfallaktion beim US-Konsulat hat sich zumindest für Alan D Angelo erledigt.
Oder, wie D Angelo seine Geschichte selbst zusammenfasste: „This is some Twilight Zone shit for sure.“
POWER THEORY: PASSPORT CHAOS IN STRAUBING ENDS WITH A HAPPY END
Sometimes life on the road writes stories that no tour manager could possibly plan. Alan D Angelo of POWER THEORY experienced exactly that in Straubing, Germany, when an afternoon trip to the zoo suddenly turned into a potential travel nightmare.
D Angelo reported that after visiting the zoo in Straubing, he realized that his billfold was missing. According to his account, it contained around 300 US dollars in cash, his drivers license and credit card. Even more worrying, he was also unable to find his passport.
With his flight home approaching, the situation quickly became serious. D Angelo went to a police station in Straubing to report the loss and contacted the US Consulate in Frankfurt. Because the consulate was closed and the following day was Labor Day in the United States, his plan was to be there at 7:00 on Tuesday morning and hope that an emergency passport could be issued before his scheduled 11:40 flight.
At least one important backup existed: Bob had a photo of D Angelos passport on his phone from when the flight had been booked.
Then came the twist.
After returning to the festival site one last time to spend some time with Stephan Moro, they headed back to their guesthouse. Bob emptied his pockets – and there it was: Alan D Angelos passport. According to D Angelo, Bob had apparently picked it up after they returned from the zoo.
Crisis solved? Almost.
Suddenly Bobs passport was missing.
What followed was another hour of searching before that passport was finally found as well. In the end, both passports were safely recovered and D Angelos planned emergency visit to the US Consulate was no longer necessary.
After a POWER THEORY road trip that came very close to turning into a serious travel problem, this particular chapter at least ended with a happy ending.
Or, as D Angelo himself put it:
“This is some Twilight Zone shit for sure.”
