Die portugiesischen Gothic- und Dark-Metal-Veteranen Heavenwood haben am vergangenen Freitag ihr lang erwartetes neues Studioalbum „The Tarot Of The Bohemians – Part II“ über Mighty Music veröffentlicht.
Nach einer zehnjährigen Pause zwischen zwei Studioalben markiert die Veröffentlichung den Abschluss eines Konzeptzyklus, der auf den esoterischen Schriften des französischen Okkultisten Gérard Encausse, besser bekannt als Papus, basiert. Dabei handelt es sich nicht einfach um eine Fortsetzung des ersten Teils, sondern um das finale Kapitel einer Geschichte, die Heavenwood bereits vor Jahren begonnen haben.
Aufgenommen wurde das Album im Lucky Cat Studio in Portugal und anschließend in den Vamacara Studios in Frankreich von Produzent Niko H. Krauss (Loudblast, Sirenia) veredelt. Musikalisch erweitert die Band ihren charakteristischen Gothic-Metal-Sound um noch düsterere, cineastische und emotionalere Facetten, ohne dabei ihre musikalischen Wurzeln zu verlieren.
Für Bandgründer, Gitarrist und Sänger Ricardo Dias dos Santos besitzt dieses Album eine besondere Bedeutung. Nach schwierigen Jahren, einem beinahe tödlichen Unfall im Jahr 2022 sowie zahlreichen persönlichen und strukturellen Veränderungen innerhalb der Band steht „The Tarot Of The Bohemians – Part II“ für einen wichtigen Meilenstein in der Geschichte von Heavenwood.
Ricardo erklärt:
„Dieses Album geht weit über ein Konzept oder die Fortsetzung des ersten Teils hinaus. Gegen alle Widerstände ist es endlich da und repräsentiert alles, was diese Reise durchlebt hat.“
Auch das Artwork spielt eine wichtige Rolle. Die von Naya Kotko gestaltete Bildsprache greift die esoterischen und symbolischen Themen des Albums auf und unterstreicht die Balance zwischen Transformation, Spiritualität und Endgültigkeit.
Seit ihrem Debütalbum „Diva“ aus dem Jahr 1996, dem ersten portugiesischen Metal-Album, das in Japan veröffentlicht wurde, zählen Heavenwood zu den wichtigsten Vertretern der portugiesischen Metal-Szene. Mit Veröffentlichungen wie „Swallow“, „Redemption“ und „Abyss Masterpiece“ entwickelte die Band ihren unverwechselbaren Stil zwischen Gothic Metal, Melancholie und atmosphärischer Härte stetig weiter.
Mit „The Tarot Of The Bohemians – Part II“ schließen Heavenwood nun ein Kapitel ab, das vor fast zehn Jahren begann, und unterstreichen einmal mehr ihren Status als eine der eigenständigsten und langlebigsten Metal-Bands Portugals.

HEAVENWOOD RELEASE “THE TAROT OF THE BOHEMIANS – PART II”
Portuguese gothic and dark metal veterans Heavenwood released their long-awaited new studio album “The Tarot Of The Bohemians – Part II” last Friday via Mighty Music.
Following a decade-long gap between full-length releases, the album marks the conclusion of a conceptual cycle inspired by the esoteric writings of French occultist Gérard Encausse, better known as Papus. Rather than simply serving as a sequel, the record represents the final chapter of a story that Heavenwood began many years ago.
The album was recorded at Lucky Cat Studio in Portugal and later refined at Vamacara Studios in France by producer Niko H. Krauss (Loudblast, Sirenia). Musically, the band expands its trademark gothic metal sound into darker, more cinematic and emotionally charged territory while remaining true to the identity that has defined Heavenwood for more than three decades.
For founder, guitarist and vocalist Ricardo Dias dos Santos, this album carries special significance. Following difficult years that included a near-fatal accident in 2022 as well as major personal and structural changes within the band, “The Tarot Of The Bohemians – Part II” stands as both a conclusion and a new beginning.
